Klabin conducts Maintenance Shutdown at Monte Alegre Unit starting Monday (26)

The initiative aligns with industry regulations and aims to ensure the proper operation of equipment as well as implement improvements in the industrial plant

Paraná, January 21, 2025 – Beginning next Monday, January 26, Klabin will conduct a Maintenance Shutdown at the Monte Alegre Unit in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná. The action, which will continue through February 6, is a preventive measure that involves evaluating and carrying out necessary interventions on machinery, operations, and processes to ensure the proper functioning and reliability of the plant.

Maintenance shutdowns are interventions established by Brazilian legislation and further detailed by the sector's Regulatory Standards (NRs). These activities occur during a specific period in the Unit’s annual calendar, also providing an opportunity to implement improvements and technological updates at the plant.

All stages of the maintenance shutdown, including the hiring of partner companies, are planned following project management best practices, with an emphasis on safety, occupational health, planning, integration and quality in the production processes at the manufacturing units.

To meet the high demand for maintenance services, a portion of the workers hired are from the region, which helps boost income for Campos Gerais. Furthermore, bringing in outsourced workers from other regions helps stimulate the economies of neighboring municipalities and will likely be noticed by local residents through increased activity in businesses, hotels, transportation, and restaurants.

To provide healthcare for workers hired during this period, Klabin has entered into an agreement with a local hospital. Workers will be referred there if the Company's medical team, which will remain on standby throughout the entire duration of the services, determines it is necessary.

To minimize traffic impacts during the Maintenance Shutdown, the construction works on PR-160 highway—a partnership between Klabin and the State Government—will not require any closures. Additionally, Klabin will stagger the entry and exit times for workers in certain operational areas to reduce the number of light vehicles on the road.

Klabin keeps communication channels open to the community to address questions regarding the Maintenance Shutdown. For more information, interested parties can access the website https://klabin.com.br/eficiencia-operacional/parada-geral, or seek assistance by calling 0800 728 0607.
