The native forest preserved by Klabin in Paraná is larger than the city of Curitiba
2025 Public Summary data indicate that the Company preserves over 1,500 km² of native vegetation within its forest assets in Paraná
Klabin employs the mosaic technique, which allows for the integration of planted forests with native vegetation, helping to preserve biodiversity.
Paraná, November 18, 2025 – Klabin, a company internationally recognized for its leadership in sustainable development, has released the 2025 Public Summary of its forestry operations in Paraná and São Paulo, highlighting the year’s key achievements. The data, which pertains to one of the company’s certification scopes, demonstrates that Klabin preserves an area of native vegetation within its environmental assets nearly four times larger than the city of Curitiba: while the company protects over 1,500 km², Curitiba’s total area is approximately 432 km².
Within the certification scope Klabin PR/SP, the company manages 379,000 hectares across 57 municipalities in both regions, with 199,000 hectares allocated to planted forest cultivation and 156,000 hectares dedicated to permanent conservation. The remaining 24,000 hectares correspond to areas designated for infrastructure, bulk water bodies, and other uses within the forest asset.
This balance guarantees a territory rich in biodiversity, where forest production coexists with areas set aside for preservation. This is made possible by the forest mosaic, a technique employed by Klabin for over 60 years, which alternates production areas with native vegetation, enabling the preservation of biodiversity.
"Our business model integrates production with environmental conservation. The 2025 results reaffirm our commitment to balancing productive efficiency with the protection of ecosystems. Sustainability is a strategic pillar for the resilience and growth of our operations,” states Julio Nogueira, Sustainability and Environment Manager at Klabin.
MORE THAN 1,600 SPECIES OF FLORA AND MORE THAN 1,100 SPECIES OF FAUNA IDENTIFIED
Klabin maintains an active and ongoing program to monitor biological diversity within its forest areas. In Paraná, 1,256 species of flora were recorded, including 21 endangered species. In São Paulo, 401 varieties were monitored, with 10 at risk of extinction. Regarding fauna, the survey identified 750 animal species in Paraná, 20 of which are threatened, and 430 species in São Paulo, with 14 threatened.
The Company also maintains, within this scope, ten High Conservation Value Areas within its forest assets, with five of these areas providing critical ecosystem services to the regions in which they are located. In addition, Klabin maintains two Natural Heritage Private Reserves (RPPN) in Paraná: Fazenda Monte Alegre and Samuel Klabin, which together total over 4,000 hectares dedicated exclusively to scientific research, environmental protection, and the conservation of natural resources.
SOCIAL INITIATIVES
The Company’s social initiatives within local communities continue to transform the reality of many individuals. Promoted through Klabin Transforms—a set of programs, activities, and sustainable solutions—the initiatives have achieved significant progress in the areas of education and socioeconomic development.
Cooperatives participating in the Klabin Transforms Circular Territory program, for example, recovered more than 2,400 metric tons of recyclable waste in 2024 through community engagement in proper waste disposal.
“The company's growth is directly connected to the development of the communities in which it operates. The Klabin Transforms projects highlight local potential, promoting social and economic development. Strengthening these ties is a fundamental part of our strategy for a more sustainable future," concludes Nogueira.
