Klabin joins Marejada 2025 by donating sustainable packaging
Brazil’s largest seafood festival, held in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, from October 2 to 19, consolidates its commitment to sustainability, inclusion and family engagement, as well as Azorean roots
São Paulo, October 3, 2025 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable solutions in paper packaging, is proud to support Marejada 2025, the country’s premier seafood celebration. The Company donates paper-based items, which will help reduce the event’s environmental footprint.
Among the donated items are 86,000 trays in various sizes, 98,500 containers for food and sauces, and 800 waste bins, all made from paper or corrugated cardboard. Additionally, the Company is providing 84,000 grease-resistant paper sheets. The Marejada is considered the most popular festival in Itajaí (SC) and seeks to mitigate any environmental impacts it may cause.
“Klabin has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, and we believe it is essential to help Marejada become even more environmentally friendly. By using paper-based products, we are significantly improving the event’s ecological footprint and reducing waste generation, as these materials are recyclable,” explained Pedro Paulo Luz, Klabin’s industrial manager in Itajaí.
In addition to donating sustainable materials, Klabin is participating for the first time with a booth on site, featuring a dedicated area for children designed to engage and inspire young minds in environmental preservation. The goal is to involve both current and future generations in a vital conversation about the importance of sustainability.
The Marejada
The largest seafood festival in Brazil takes place in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, from October 2 to 19. With a 36-year legacy of social and environmental responsibility, Marejada has grown from a local celebration into a national benchmark for honoring tradition while shaping a sustainable future. In addition to eliminating single-use plastics, the event provides free water and reusable cups, further supporting smart waste management practices.
Attendees can enjoy 18 days of authentic cuisine, local crafts, music, and attractions for all ages, with restaurants located both in the main pavilion and outdoor areas, as well as a traditional Portuguese restaurant, indoor park, bars, craft breweries, amusement park, and complimentary bike parking.
Through the Accessibility Plan, developed in partnership with the Itajaí Municipal Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Comadefi), the event is designed to ensure that no one is left out of Brazil’s largest Azorean celebration.
