Klabin stands out at the Brazil Conference & Expo 2025 with high-performance solutions for the fresh produce sector
Corrugated board packaging combines strength, sustainability and technology to meet the demands of the fruits, vegetables and leafy greens market
Suitable for direct contact with food, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and deliveries in general, Fresh packaging protects and guarantees the integrity of products in environments with controlled temperature and humidity.
São Paulo, August 7, 2025 – Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of packaging paper in Brazil and the market leader in corrugated board and industrial bags, stood out at the Brazil Conference & Expo 2025 by showcasing its solutions for the fruit, vegetable and leafy greens market. Developed with a focus on quality, sustainability and logistical efficiency, the Company's packaging reinforces its role as a strategic partner to the fresh produce supply chain.
Produced with virgin fibers from planted and certified forests, Klabin's corrugated board boxes offer significant benefits for the industry: a lower carbon footprint compared to other raw materials, improved ventilation and food protection, even in humid environments or those with temperature fluctuations, and excellent performance in long-distance transportation. In addition, they are recyclable, biodegradable, and comply with health and food safety standards, helping to reduce losses during transportation.
Among the highlights showcased at the event is the Fresh packaging line, designed to protect fruits, vegetables and leafy greens from harvest, through transportation, all the way to their final destination—be it the local market or for export. One of its distinguishing features is the technology employed, which enhances ventilation and thereby extends the shelf life of fruits, vegetables and leafy greens. The packaging also offers high durability, customizable design, and superior print quality, ensuring traceability and brand visibility for the producer.
Currently, over 1.4 million metric tons of fruit are transported annually in Klabin packaging, which manufactures more than 200 million boxes each year for the industry. These numbers reflect the market's confidence in the Company's solutions, which extend far beyond packaging: they are tools that add value and efficiency to the fresh produce supply chain.
Industrial growth and sustainable solutions expand Klabin's presence in the packaging sector
Klabin has been consolidating its leadership in the packaging sector with continuous investments in technology, production capacity and sustainability. The Puma II Project in Ortigueira, state of Paraná (PR), marks the start of Eukaliner® production, the world's first kraftliner 100% made from eucalyptus fiber. Developed and patented by the Company, Eukaliner® combines attributes such as high strength, superior print quality, and reduced environmental impact.
Another significant milestone is the operation of the Piracicaba II Unit, the largest and most advanced corrugated board packaging plant in the Americas. With an investment of R$1.56 billion and a production capacity of 240,000 metric tons per year, the plant was designed to meet the demands of clients with automated lines, incorporating the principles of Industry 4.0. The complex is equipped with two cutting-edge corrugators that operate at 450 meters per minute, along with nine high-performance, state-of-the-art printers. Additionally, it has a fully automated logistics system that ensures agility, safety and efficiency throughout all stages of the operation.
In the Northeast region of Brazil, the Horizonte Unit, located in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, state of Ceará (CE), recently underwent a modernization process with the installation of a high-productivity corrugator, boosting its capacity to 100,000 metric tons per year. Alongside the mills in Goiana, state of Pernambuco (PE), and Feira de Santana, state of Bahia (BA), the plant caters to sectors like fruit farming and strengthens Klabin's presence in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, which offer significant logistical advantages.
