Paraná, April 8, 2025 - Klabin and the Municipal Government of Imbaú (PR) distribute around a thousand bags for recyclable waste in the city. The initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Company and Ambipar Environment, as part of the Klabin Transforms Circular Territory program, which aims to facilitate the proper disposal of waste by enabling the separation of recyclable materials from organic waste. The initiative took place during the month of March in the districts of Vila Nicolau, Bela Vista, Cidade Alta, Vila Jangada, Vila Nogueira, and Vila do Reino and included the collaboration of 23 volunteers, including members of the ADTB women's soccer team, professionals from Ambipar, Acamari (recycling cooperative of Imbaú), Klabin, and representatives from the Municipal Government.

 

The bags, which have already been distributed in six municipalities, are used to store recyclable waste, thereby facilitating identification by workers involved in selective collection. This simple practice has a positive impact on the recycling cooperatives, as the proper disposal of materials ensures greater safety and quality in the handling of the content when they arrive at the warehouses.

 

"Recyclable is waste that can be transformed into new products. When properly cleaned and free from contamination, they have the potential to generate income for the members of the recycling cooperatives. This is the purpose of the Klabin Transforms Circular Territory: to care for the environment and contribute to improving people's quality of life," says Uilson Paiva, the manager responsible for the project at Klabin.

Present in seven municipalities, the program works towards the social inclusion of cooperatives and recycling workers, as well as community engagement for the proper disposal of waste. Since its creation in 2015, Klabin Transforms Circular Territory supports the municipal governments in complying with the National Solid Waste Policy. Since the beginning of the program, the income of the cooperative members has increased by 86%. This evolution results from the collaborative work of the team and the community's engagement.
