São Paulo, March 27, 2025 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable solutions in paper packaging, held today, March 27, the inauguration ceremony for its newest industrial unit in Piracicaba, São Paulo. The mill is the result of an investment of R$1.56 billion, with a production capacity of 240,000 metric tons of corrugated board per year, equivalent to 421 million m²/year. Operational since April 2024, the Piracicaba II Unit stands as the largest and most modern corrugated board packaging facility in the Americas. The project brings together cutting-edge technology and reinforces Klabin's integration model, enhancing the capacity to convert paper into packaging with maximum efficiency.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Unit and included the participation of clients, suppliers, partner institutions, the public sector, and the media, who had the opportunity to learn about the operation during a guided tour. Furthermore, the celebration was attended by the chairman of Klabin's Board of Directors, Horácio Lafer Piva; the company's CEO, Cristiano Teixeira; the director of packaging, Douglas Dalmasi; and other professionals from the Company. The governor of the State of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, the mayor of Piracicaba, Helinho Zanatta, and other state and municipal authorities also attended the event.

Located in Piracicaba, São Paulo, Klabin's new packaging mill occupies a site of over 1 million square meters, with a built-up area exceeding 100,000 square meters. In the facility, two corrugators with a width of 2.8 meters and a speed of 450 meters per minute are operating, along with nine state-of-the-art printers, which include five flexo folder gluers and four die-cutters. All equipment operates on the cutting edge of technology.

The Unit has a paper stock capacity for 6,000 rolls – equivalent to 15,000 metric tons – and has 16 loading docks in the shipping area, which operate simultaneously. It also has a fully automated system for pallet assembly and output, optimizing logistics and providing greater operational efficiency.

Among the technological highlights is a vertical storage facility, a first of its kind in Latin America, with the capacity to store 2.3 million cubic meters of corrugated board sheets (equivalent to 1,100 metric tons). This number represents the average consumption of the printers over 30 hours. "The equipment at the Piracicaba II Unit incorporates the latest technologies available on the market, delivering substantial improvements in safety and productivity. To operate the new plant, we assembled a highly qualified team of professionals who underwent up to six months of training, including exchange programs in countries like France, Germany and Japan, where the equipment was manufactured," explains Douglas Dalmasi, Klabin's Director of Packaging.
