Paraná, March 28, 2025– More than two metric tons of recyclable materials were collected during the Expo Telêmaco 2025, held between March 18 and 23. The action, promoted by the Klabin Transforms - Circular Territory program, in partnership with the Feira do Bem, a program of the Municipality of Telêmaco Borba (PR), and the Cooperative of Environmental Agents (ReciclaTB), will be concluded with the delivery of fruits, vegetables and greens to vulnerable families in Telêmaco Borba.

In 2024 this same action was carried out, but this year there was a 40% increase in the collection of recyclable waste. "The growth in the collection of recyclable materials shows that when the community is well-guided and has an infrastructure for the correct disposal of recyclable materials, it is possible to achieve economic, environmental, and social gains that benefit everyone," says Uilson Paiva, manager responsible for the Klabin Transforms – Circular Territory project.

It is estimated that about 700 kilos of food, the result of the exchange for recyclable waste, will be delivered to more than 300 families registered at the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) of the municipality.

"The exchange of recyclable materials for food, as done by the Feira do Bem, completes a sustainability cycle. Through this action, we found a way to promote food security, while developing our role in dengue prevention and environmental care. We also strengthened recycling cooperatives and cooperative members, generating more revenue and jobs. It is great when we find companies like Klabin that, together with the public sector, encourage sustainability in all areas,” comments Rita Araújo, mayor of Telêmaco Borba.

"The event cleaning service has been a success at Recicla TB. In addition to increasing the income of the cooperative members and promoting an improvement in the quality of life of each one, it has also contributed to increasing the visibility of the cooperative and promoting awareness about the importance of recycling," explains Giane Galvão, president of Recicla TB.

Klabin's participation in Expo Telêmaco

Nine large bags were installed in the party area for the correct disposal of recyclable waste at the Mieceslau Malinowski Events Center, where Expo Telêmaco 2025 took place.

Klabin was also present at the event with a booth where visitors could  learn about its entire production process. Through 3D interaction, participants were able to explore the environments, starting from the forest, moving through the industrial sector, and culminating in the inspection of products that reach the homes of millions of people. The space also presented the social development and environmental responsibility projects carried out by Klabin, as well as improvements in road infrastructure works in the regions where it operates.

Another action by the company was supporting the kaingang indigenous land of Tibagy-Mococa and Queimadas, in Ortigueira, so they could display and sell their crafts at their own booth. The action was a sales success, with almost 50% more products sold compared to the average sales of baskets and products made from bamboo cane harvesting. The project for cultural revival and improvement of handicrafts, conducted in partnership with Sebrae, is part of the Indigenous Basic Environmental Program conducted by the company since the construction of the Company's unit in Ortigueira.
