Organized by Klabin in collaboration with the city government, the inaugural free event will feature around 25 animals ready for adoption

 
Otacílio Costa, March 19, 2025 - On March 22, from 9 am to 2 pm, the Victor Conde de Westarp Central Square will host a Pet Adoption Fair. Around 25 animals will be there waiting for a home. Open to the community, the free event is organized by Klabin, the largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging and sustainable paper solutions in Brazil, in partnership with the City Government of Otacílio Costa, Santa Catarina.

 

Individuals interested in adopting a pet are required to participate in an on-site screening conducted by the City Government and volunteer caregivers. They must also sign an adoption agreement and have a photo taken with the animal before bringing it home. The pets will be delivered after being bathed and groomed, along with two bags of pet food. The adopter will also receive vaccinations and spaying/neutering for the pet, as appropriate for the pet's age.

 

The initiative aims to enhance the welfare of both animals and families. “We believe that the Animal Adoption Fair is a positive contribution to the Otacílio Costa community, simultaneously raising awareness about the importance of pet care and reducing the number of abandoned animals," states Mireli Moura Pitz Floriani, the coordinator of Social and Environmental Responsibility at Klabin.
