Paraná, January 20, 2025 – With support from the Klabin Transforms – Social Forests program, the Association of Family Farming Cooperatives in the Central North region of Paraná (CCN-PR) signed a contract with Sapore, the food service provider for Klabin's units in Paraná. Initiated on December 2, 2024, the partnership values small and medium-scale farmers and the supply of quality food to the industrial restaurants of the Ortigueira, Monte Alegre and Forestry units. In total, about 2,700 kg of produce are supplied to the Company each week, including cabbage, bananas, tomatoes, oranges, lettuce, chives, chard and mint.

This volume represents a 170% increase compared to the previous amount, which was 1,000 kg per week. The Association of Cooperatives is formed by Coaf, from São Jerônimo da Serra; Copasol, from Sapopema; Coopervati, from Telêmaco Borba; Coocat-Mel, from Telêmaco Borba; and Coopercandi, from Cândido de Abreu, bringing together over 900 member families and 40 municipalities in Paraná.

"The increase in the supply of produce by the Association of Cooperatives strengthens family farming and connects small-scale producers in Paraná more closely with consumers. The Klabin Transforms – Social Forests program works to facilitate such connection and stimulate local production, generating income for the communities,” explained Marcos Alexandre Danieli, coordinator of the program for the Social Responsibility and Community Relations area at Klabin.

"Expanding the supply of fresh produce to Klabin brings great joy to Sapore, as it is the outcome of a major project that aims to increasingly reduce food waste," commented Maike Raiter, director of Supplies and Logistics at Sapore. "By increasing the purchase of fresh produce directly from rural producers, we ensure fresher and higher quality products to our clients, in addition to helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions," he added.

Besides meeting the demand of the Company's restaurants, the Klabin Transforms - Social Forests program also benefits initiatives such as the National School Feeding Program (PNAE) and the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), supporting food security and sustainability. The Association of Cooperatives is an advancement of the work previously performed by a single cooperative, Coocat-Mel, from Telêmaco Borba. With the creation of the CCN-PR, it became possible to expand production scale and meet new demands, reaffirming Klabin's commitment to local development and the support to family farming.

"An individual producer has a certain strength, but if you are part of a cooperative group, this strength is transformed and multiplied. The partnership with Klabin Transforms - Social Forests encourages the integration of cooperatives and associations, aiming to provide family farming products to a larger number of clients,” said Regiane Aparecida Moura da Silva, president of CCN-PR.
