Participation of teachers and specialists in the 38th edition of the Klabin Transforma Caiubi Program
Santa Catarina, November 12, 2025 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, a leader in corrugated board packaging and a benchmark in market pulp (short fiber, long fiber, and fluff), held the 38th edition of the Klabin Transforms Caiubi Program on October 29 and 30, at the Caiubi Auditorium of the Correia Pinto Unit (SC). The event brought together approximately 50 educators and specialists, fostering an environment for sharing knowledge and experiences in sustainability and environmental education.
The program aims to train teachers on environmental topics, providing concepts and practical tools to enhance curriculum content. In this way, participants become multipliers of knowledge in their schools and in the community where they work, strengthening sustainable practices. The event featured discussions with experts on local wildlife and plant life, water resources, soils, Klabin’s environmental management system, and other topics related to environmental conservation.
"Education will always be the most effective tool for raising awareness of environmental issues, and Klabin Transforms Caiubi has been playing this role for 18 years. The support of teachers, who are key agents in this process, is essential for spreading information and working toward a better future,” said Mireli Pitz, Environmental and Social Responsibility Coordinator at Klabin.
Immersion and sustainability
This edition featured a comprehensive and immersive agenda, which began with discussions on sustainable forest plantations, followed by a lecture and interactive session focused on the native wildlife and plant life of Santa Catarina. Participants also had the chance to learn about Klabin Transforms - Legal Forests and Social Forests projects, which support rural property planning and help producers achieve environmental compliance.
The event then shifted focus to environmental management and the role of various institutions in environmental conservation. The agenda included a presentation on Klabin’s Environmental Management System, a guided tour of the Correia Pinto mill, and lectures on the “Environmental Protectors” program by the Santa Catarina Environmental Military Police and the “I Think, Therefore I Dispose” program by the Santa Catarina Environmental Institute (IMA), which addresses proper waste disposal. Participants also attended a session on the “Soils in Education” project and concluded the day with a visit to the Araucária Trail, a Klabin conservation area in Correia Pinto.
The diversity of topics and the presence of experts from partner institutions enriched this edition and stimulated dialogue about the environmental future of the region. This initiative underscores Klabin’s commitment to developing multipliers and promoting local biodiversity.
Participants also affirmed the importance of ongoing training. “The Program exceeded my expectations, demonstrating excellent organization and an engaging approach. It provided a wealth of knowledge and, most importantly, heightened my awareness of how to implement similar initiatives in our schools,” said Susi Couto Koche, from the Municipal Department of Education in Lages, SC.
Letícia Oliveira Ribeiro, from the Della Costa Municipal School Center in Campo Belo do Sul (SC), reinforces the positive experience. "I congratulate Klabin for the outstanding work it has been doing—these actions truly make a difference, not only for our city or state, but for the world as a whole. I loved getting to know Klabin up close, and I hope the Company continues making a positive impact on the world,” she concluded.
About the Klabin Transforms Caiubi Program
The Klabin Transforms Caiubi Program was created in 2001, in Telêmaco Borba, Paraná, and was expanded to Santa Catarina in the same year. Its goal is to offer teachers theoretical and practical knowledge about environmental education for use in the classroom.
For 18 years, the program was carried out only in municipalities of Paraná and Santa Catarina; then, in 2019, it was expanded to Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Bahia. To date, the project has trained 1,864 educators in the state of Santa Catarina, positively impacting approximately 275,000 students since its inception. Across Brazil, over 7,000 educators have been trained, reaching over 550,000 students. The program's editions are guided by a main theme, chosen after analyzing local needs and potentials, aligned with Klabin's Sustainability Policy and Klabin's Sustainable Development Goals (KODS), which are linked to the 2030 United Nations Agenda.
