Paraná, October 21, 2025 – Klabin, Brazil's largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable paper packaging solutions, has been recognized with the 2025 Sesi SDG Award in the Social – Large Industry category for its 'Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education' initiative, aimed at strengthening public education in the municipalities where it operates. The initiative stands out for contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and for generating a positive impact on local communities.

Launched in 2019 in the municipalities of Ortigueira, Telêmaco Borba, and Imbaú, in Paraná, the program adopted a new identity and broadened its scope starting in 2021. By 2024, it had reached 20 municipalities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco and São Paulo, benefiting around 30,000 people among students, teachers and managers of the public school system.

“Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education reflects our commitment to the sustainable development of the regions where we operate. Investing in public education is an investment in the future of our communities and in preparing citizens to face the challenges of a changing world," says Maria Harumi, Social Responsibility and Community Relations Manager and Klabin's representative at the awards ceremony.

Created by the Social Service of Industry (SESI), the Sesi SDG Award recognizes organizations that incorporate the United Nations 2030 Agenda into their strategies and operations, valuing initiatives that positively impact workers, communities, and the environment.

About Klabin Transforms by Sowing Education

The program, spanning from 2019 to 2024, is structured around four pillars: educational management, continuous professional development, pedagogical practices and assessment, and school infrastructure. The methodology involved seven stages, from assessing local needs to monitoring the actions implemented, including training in Mathematics, Portuguese Language, and Natural Sciences, all aligned with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).

In addition to strengthening school management, the initiative has already contributed to expanding access to early childhood education and full-time schooling, fostering the creation of Education Development Arrangements (ADEs), and encouraging municipalities to participate in Education Conferences.

The impacts of the program are tracked using indicators such as the Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) and the targets set by the National Education Plan (PNE). Between 2021 and 2023, the majority of the municipalities involved showed improvement in their Ideb results, which, according to the Company, highlights the program's effectiveness.

This year, the program underwent a significant cycle of review and critical analysis. Its relaunch is scheduled for 2026, featuring a methodology that is better aligned with local realities, as well as new objectives and targets.
