Correia Pinto hosts the 37th edition of the Klabin Transforma - Caiubi Program
The event featured lectures on the importance of protecting the environment
Santa Catarina, November 18, 2024 – On October 30 and 31, Klabin held the 37th Edition of the Klabin Transforma - Caiubi Program. The event took place at the Correia Pinto Unit and was attended by teachers from Correia Pinto, Otacílio Costa, and Ponte Alta.
The agenda included lectures and interactive activities on sustainability, responsibility and environmental awareness. Moreover, Klabin professionals facilitated discussions and conversations, offering event participants the opportunity to learn more about Klabin's Forest Management and the company's units in the state. Correia Pinto is the official headquarters of the Klabin Transforma - Caiubi Program in Santa Catarina, which features the Caiubi auditorium, a space created specifically to hold meetings that include a visit to the Araucária Trail, a Klabin conservation area.
The first lecture addressed sustainable planted forests, a priority topic for Klabin, which respect and value good management combined with economic benefits and the well-being of society. The Klabin Transforma - Legal Forests Program was also introduced, a project by the Company in partnership with the Association for the Preservation of the Environment and Life (Apremavi). This initiative aims to develop actions on conservation, environmental education and forest expansion, with a focus on preserving and restoring native forest remnants, all grounded in property planning.
The programs in which Klabin is a partner were also discussed, such as "Penso, Logo Destino" from the Institute of the Environment (IMA), aimed at raising awareness among all residents of Santa Catarina about the proper disposal of solid waste, and "Klabin Transforma - Environmental Protectors," developed in partnership with the Military Police, which trains young people to serve as multipliers in environmental education. In partnership with the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC), a lecture was held explaining the importance of teaching about soils in education. Sumatra, a partner of Klabin, additionally contributed expertise in biodiversity monitoring and facilitated an interactive activity to explore the fauna in Santa Catarina.
With activities in Santa Catarina since 2007, the Klabin Transforma - Caiubi Program aims to train teachers from public and private schools on environmental education and encourage them to disseminate knowledge throughout the community. The program has already reached 707 schools, 1,763 teachers and about 245,000 students in the phases conducted within the state.
"At the events, we also seek to align these topics with Klabin's Sustainability Policy and its Sustainable Development Goals (KODS), which are linked to the 2030 United Nations Agenda. Thus, teachers and students understand how these objectives can be applied in their daily lives. Topics such as sustainability, planting native trees, and recognizing wildlife can be explored and spark curiosity to learn more about the region's forests,” says Júlio Nogueira, manager of Corporate Sustainability and Environment at Klabin.
