Klabin highlights sustainability and innovative solutions at Expolages 2024
The company participated for the 4th year in the largest multisectoral fair in Santa Catarina.
Santa Catarina, October 18, 2024 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper and sustainable paper solutions, participated from October 9 to 13 in Expolages, the largest multisectoral fair in the Serra Catarinense region. Held at the Conta Dinheiro Exhibition Park in Lages (SC), the fair brought together over 40 exhibitors, with a focus on agribusiness and other sectors such as technology, commerce, industry and services.
In its fourth participation in the event, Klabin presented sustainability initiatives for the business and reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable practices and products derived from planted forests, demonstrating how the Company is aligned with global challenges of environmental responsibility.
Visitors were able to learn about innovative solutions in paper packaging at the Company's booth. Products such as corrugated board packaging, toilet paper, sanitary pads, and the industrial bags manufactured at the Lages Unit – the largest industrial bags mill in the world – were showcased. These products are widely used in sectors ranging from construction to the food industry, chemicals, and agribusiness.
Antonio Carlos de Liz, Klabin's Quality, Projects and Operational Excellence manager, emphasized the importance of the company's participation in Expolages as a way to strengthen the relationship with the local community. “Our presence at the event reflects Klabin’s commitment to the sustainable development of the regions where we operate. With over 60 years of operations in Santa Catarina, Klabin manages an extensive forest area in the state, covering several municipalities and contributing to the sustainable and economic development of the region. Klabin’s forest areas in Santa Catarina include more than 5,000 kilometers of rivers and over 9,000 watersheds protected by the company, which ensure water supply in the region. The Company's total preserved native forests in the state represent 46% of the total forest area of Santa Catarina.
