The initiative aims to ensure the proper performance and reliability of the equipment at the mill

 

Paraná, October 3, 2024 – Klabin will conduct the maintenance shutdown of the Monte Alegre Unit, in Telêmaco Borba (PR), between October 7 and 17. The initiative, as provided for by the Brazilian legislation, is intended for maintenance on machines and equipment of the mill, to ensure their perfect operation and guarantee the safety of employees and the community.

 

With a focus on operational safety and productivity enhancement, the maintenance shutdown also enables the installation of new technologies, creating a virtuous cycle of continuous improvement in the industrial units.

 

To ensure that all the phases are carried out efficiently, the maintenance shutdown involves prior planning and support from teams hired specifically for the period, which represents a boost to the economy in the Campos Gerais region.

 

Throughout the process, Klabin will monitor the conditions of the transportation used by the contractors, as well as the accommodations that will be used. For the healthcare of temporary workers, Klabin has entered into an agreement with a hospital in Telêmaco Borba, where they will be referred if the Company's medical team determines that care is necessary.

 

Klabin informs that, during the maintenance shutdown, residents around the Unit occasionally may notice changes in odor and noise. However, please note that these changes do not pose any risk to public health or to the environment.

 

Transparency with suppliers and the community
In order to ensure that all suppliers are aware of Klabin's requirements for the operation of the maintenance shutdown, the Company recently held an alignment meeting to share information about safety, food, health and transportation. To minimize the impact on road traffic, the arrival time of temporary workers will be different from the shift times followed by the mill, and workers are recommended to give priority to bus transportation. The Company will also have the assistance of the municipal bodies to ensure the best flow of vehicles throughout the entire shutdown period.
