25 students received their diplomas last Thursday, September 5

Paraná, September 6, 2024 –  Another 25 students from Ortigueira Technical School earned their diplomas from the technical courses in Operation and Maintenance of Forest Machines and are ready for the labor market. Last Thursday, September 5, the State Center for Forestry and Agricultural Vocational Training of Ortigueira, a pioneering project by Klabin in partnership with the government of the State of Paraná, held another graduation ceremony. The ceremony brought together students, family members, public officials, and company employees at the theater of the Queimadas Cultural Center.

In total, the Ortigueira Technical School has trained nearly 300 students in courses on Forest Machine Operation, Heavy Machinery Maintenance, and Agribusiness. Of these, more than 50% were hired by Klabin or other companies, reinforcing the commitment to promoting education and opportunity in the job market.

"The school provides excellent training and gives students a diploma that opens the doors to the labor market, contributing to Klabin's hiring of local labor and to the development of the entire region," says Klabin's Community Relations manager, Uilson Paiva.

The State Forestry and Agriculture Vocational Training Center of Ortigueira was inaugurated in 2020 to become a reference in training forestry operators and mechanics. Its first batch of students graduated in December 2021. Model schools were visited in Sweden and Finland, countries with a long history of such technical training.

"Through high-quality education, the State Training Center expands labor market opportunities for young people. The holding of a new graduation ceremony shows that the partnership between Klabin and the State Government of Paraná is a success,” says Sueli Aparecida Martins, head of the Telêmaco Borba Regional Education Center.

The State Forestry and Agriculture Vocational Training Center of Ortigueira has a comprehensive infrastructure consisting of classrooms, fully-equipped laboratories, restrooms, industrial kitchen, cafeteria, multi-sport court and leisure area. The school has capacity for up to 800 students. The school also has an exclusive boarding school for students enrolled in full-time programs. The school receives state government and Klabin funds for its physical, human and pedagogical upkeep.
