Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, has won over the past few weeks important recognitions that confirm its sustainable management model, which prioritizes caring for its forests, production plants, employees and local communities.
The company was elected the most sustainable in the pulp and paper industry by the Época Negócios 360° Yearbook. The award is an important recognition of the company’s sustainability initiatives, which are based on the guiding principle of balancing production with the lowest possible environmental impacts. In the same publication, Klabin also was featured as a highlight in the categories Innovation, Corporate Governance and People, and won second place in the overall ranking of the Pulp & Paper industry.
Last week, the company also was named the winner in the Industry Highlights Awards 2020 sponsored by the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (ABTCP), in four categories. The winning cases were: “The Digitalization of Klabin’s Forests,” in the category Forestry Development; “Eukaliner” (the first kraftliner made 100% from eucalyptus developed by the company), in the category Packaging Paper Production; “Nanocellulose to substitute carbomers in formulations for alcohol-based gel hand sanitizers as an alternative for combatting the covid-19 pandemic”, in the category Innovation (R&D and Technology); and “Social Forests – Klabin Program increases by up to 60% the incomes of family farmers in Paraná,” in the category Social Responsibility.
