São Paulo, June 15, 2020 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest producer and exporter of packaging paper, today published its 2019 Sustainability Report. The report, based on the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) methodology, the benchmark for reporting to stakeholders for companies around the world, brings in a clear and transparent manner the company’s challenges and actions during the year.
The reporting period was marked by the celebration of the company’s 120th anniversary, the announcement of the largest investment in its history and the consolidation of its role as a key player in a sustainable future. Thanks to its management based on sustainability, which matches production with the lowest environmental and social impact, the company won important honors, listed in the report, such as its inclusion in the Leadership category of CDP – the global information platform for investors – as a leader in transparency and actions to combat climate change, as well as water resource management and sustainable forest management, for the second consecutive year.
Among the highlights in this year’s report are the detailed KODS (Klabin’s Sustainable Development Goals), which underscore the alignment of the company’s strategic priorities with the United Nations 2030 Agenda. Through efforts involving diverse stakeholders, priority issues related to environment, society and governance were defined and distilled into short-, medium- and long-term targets that should be met by 2030.
The report details Klabin’s management and performance in the environmental, social and economic spheres during 2019, including its progress in indicators, showing the advances made in relation to prior years, as well as actions that can be improved and premises of the methodology. Before its publication, the report was assured by external consultants, which guarantees the integrity of information.
