São Paulo, September 2, 2020 – To offer the market increasingly sustainable solutions that foster the intelligent use of resources, about two years ago Klabin launched a paperboard line for the cups market. KlaCup® is produced from a mix of pine and eucalyptus fibers, which offers greater strength and special print quality. The application of a barrier enables the product to be used for diverse purposes, including for direct contact with hot or cold food.
“Based on our expertise and experience as a producer of paperboard for liquid foods, we have also developed a unique solution for the disposable cups market, which can be used for numerous purposes. The KlaCup® line comes with the quality already offered by Klabin to the largest companies in the food and beverage segments,” says Flávio Deganutti, director of Paper Business at Klabin.
Like other products manufactured by the company, paperboard is made from planted and certified forests, that is, sustainable and renewable sources, and is also recyclable. KlaCup® comes in the Blanc version, with both sides in white, and in the Natural Kraft version, in which one side is brown, meeting the market requirement and trend for more sustainable packaging and more natural looking options.
During Easter this year, KlaCup® gained a new application as the base for a line of chocolate eggs. Besides providing support and food safety, the cup also functioned as a container for the gift that accompanied the egg. This initiative gave the final product a sustainability appeal, which is increasingly being considered by end consumers, and it can also be reused.
The paper cups in the KlaCup® line are already being used by diverse restaurant chains in Brazil and around the world. These are available for sale through Klabin ForYou, the Company’s marketplace for selling paper products.
