São Paulo, October 7, 2020 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest packaging paper producer and exporter, has just received another important recognition for its sustainable practices. The company was rated Platinum in the EcoVadis Corporate Sustainability Assessment, joining the select group of 1% of companies in the Pulp and Paper sector with the best performance around the world.
The assessment covers 21 criteria in four main themes: Labor and Human Rights, Environment, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. This year Klabin scored 75 points in the overall assessment and 100 in the Environment theme, a significant improvement over last year when it scored 70 and 90 points respectively, being rated Gold.
“EcoVadis’ ESG assessment adopts a methodology that follows international standards and validated by a committee of experts from diverse areas. The results are important for us not only to know that we are on the right path but also to see opportunities for improvement,” said Júlio Nogueira, Corporate Sustainability and Environmental manager.
