Klabin included in Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of B3 for fifth straight year

The inclusion is the result of the company’s intensive efforts focused on its commitment to sustainable development

São Paulo, December 12, 2017 – Klabin, Brazil’s largest paper producer and exporter, the only company in the country to offer a one-stop solution in hardwood, softwood and fluff pulp, and the leader in corrugated board packaging and industrial bags markets, has been included in the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) of the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange (B3) for the fifth consecutive year. The inclusion is the result of the company’s intensive efforts focused on its commitment to sustainable development.

The goal of the index is to create an investment environment that is compatible with the demands of sustainable development and to encourage ethical responsibility through good business practices of companies eligible for the index portfolio. To be included in the ISE, companies must stand out in good sustainability practices, which is verified through questionnaires and assessment of documentary evidence that attests to the quality of management and control of the issues addressed.

The prominent indicators of Klabin’s performance that resulted in its inclusion in the ISE portfolio include the high Quality of Management and Relationship and the Resolution of Client and Consumer Demands, the Commitment to Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services as well as Fundamental Principles and Rights in Labor Relations, the Management of Adaptation to Climate Change, and its Engagement with Stakeholders.

The portfolio of the 13th edition of the index will be valid from January 2, 2018 through January 4, 2019, and includes 33 stocks of 30 companies. The choice of the component stocks is verified independently by KPMG using the methodology developed by the Business Administration School of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-EAESP), while ISE constantly monitors the index to ensure its standard is maintained. This year, 179 companies were invited and, for the first time, the ISE portal published the questionnaires completed by the 30 selected companies.
